I recently watched a game show on TV and one of the mini games shown on the program was based around guessing logos. The host showed a small segment of a recognisable logo and the contestants had to guess what the logo was.

I was quite fascinated at how you could instantly recognise the logo by being shown only a small segment of it. I’ve tried to recreate the game here in this blog post. It just goes to show how crucial an effective & recognisable logo design is for your business - unlike like these bad logo designs.

There are 10 logos in total… please do leave your guesses / thoughts in the comments.

    The first i didn’t recognize it, but the others were easier, all those are logos we see all the time, everywere, and from products we use almost all the time, for that we can identifie them so quickly.

    What is the show you see about? design related or simply normal tv show?

    The TV Show was just a normal game show named “Talkin’ Bout Your Generation”… nothing design related.

    Now that I’ve looked at other responses, I can see to other logos. I even use a Mac and I got that one wrong, and the Pepsi logo being new threw me off. I’m curious to know if you did this same game with both the old and new Pepsi logos, which one would get better results. Personally, I think the old one would win, but that may be my bias against the “plumber crack” logo.

    This is very clever - I got stuck on 1 and 5 as well! We also created a game where people needed to work out the logo/brand based on the product and it definitely does show how much a good logo can effect brand recognition.

    It’s very interesting to look at the “Most missed” link after you’re done. My beloved Adobe is 4th most missed out of them! It kind of shows you which companies are getting through to us. I’m guilty of missing the most missed, myself.

    What I want to stress is the power of logos as means of brand recognition. The very fact that so many of us were able to recognize these logos shows their tremendous importance in building the identity of a company. It’s no wonder then the best logos out there were not created overnight, but were products of long toils and great creative efforts.
