Stylish Macbook Cases / Covers
Published on Monday, February 22, 2010 – 10:53 am
I have been researching different laptop covers, in particular, one for my Macbook Pro 17″. I sent out a tweet (follow me) asking for people’s recommendations and got inundated with replies. I thought I would share some of the most notable below. Excuse the pun.
Twelve South Book Book – $79.99
Speck Clear SeeThru Cover – $49.95 (the one I got)
BooqBags Taipan Sneak XS – $24.95
HardGraft Sling + Extras – €125
BooqBags Viper XL2 – $54.95
ColcaSac – $30
Compushell Ultra Rugged Aluminium Case – $269.95
Stealth Laptop Bag – £16.99
Rainer Spehl – €120-€260
Gelaskin Sticker – $29.95
Iron Man Decal – $20
Although not a case I thought this Iron Man decal was worth sharing. There are many more Macbook decals over on Etsy.

- Speck
- Golla
- Booqbags
- Incipio
- ColcaSac
- MyIncipio
- eBay
- FoofBag

I got my first MacBook last week, granted I had to get it replaced because it had faulty RAM, but exciting nonetheless.
But yes now I need to find a cool case for it.
I really like the ColcaSac, I’m seriously thinking that I want one of those. Cases like this usualy look so high tech and futuristic, but that back to the old way look really works for me.

SF Bags not included? Although they are expensive, Waterfields are top notch quality plus great customer service. I got a thank you letter from the owner for purchasing one!

FYI, the BookBook is not available for 17″ yet, and no word on when or if it will be. Only 13″ and 15″ for now.

I have a 15″ macbook pro and I use a cover from http://www.gelaskins.com/
They make simple sticker covers but they come in some really cool designs and they give exposure to some great artists.
This is the one i use https://www.gelaskins.com/skins.php?SkinID=153&DeviceID=9&CategoryID=58

Hi Jacob, what do you think of this case? http://www.firebox.com/product/2558/Stealth-Laptop-Sleeve?via=ser
Im really tempted to get one myself, so much quirkier than my standard neoprene case!

The Burlap and wood one are really cool.. Don’t know if I would spend the money but very nice… How do you like your Mac by the way? 17″ is pretty large for carrying around don’t you think?
Jacob Cass on Feb 23, 2010 said:
Thank you all for your recommendations and feedback, I’ve updated the post with some of your suggestions.
Kiren,
I find the size no problem, I’d rather have a larger screen that I use more than I carry, any day.

Hey Jacob,
I like the wooden case by rainer expensive and not very practical but love the look.
I will put that on the wish list with the rest of the gadgets I seem to have the need to own.
Also good work on the website loads of useful information on here.

Man, I love the BooqBags Viper XL2! The stealth ones are pretty fun, too.
It will be interesting to see what they come up with for the iPad as well.

I also have the speck clear case! It’s not the most extravagant but I love the way my macbook looks and I feel like the standard clear case is a subtle way to let people know that.

Nice cases, and seeingthat I am about to receive my 2nd Macbook Pro, I may opt for one of these. For my current one, I went with Speck Products See Thru Satin, Soft Touch Hard Shell Case and it’s wonderful, light and protective!

I use a product from newPCgadgets called the Laptop Accessory Pouch. I love this product because it attaches right to the back of my MacBook Pro monitor and gives me fast access to my accessories like my cell phone and wireless mouse. It is smaller than a case and easy to take with you.

I had the same problem the other day but couldn’t really find anything I liked, so I made one myself, http://www.ujuforthecool.com/crew-laptop-case,
Let me know what you think.

I personally like creative standout designs. I dont like brands that are sold in retail stores because everyone has them.
Check out http://www.geekcoolinc.com.au
Great designs and pretty good price when comparing with brands like Hard Graft.
